I feel as if I’ve been gone forever. This is the longest vacation I have ever taken – a whole twelve days. It certainly feels awesome to do this once in a while.
It’s great to be back.
It’s great to be home as well.
We took a trip out west to visit Kurt’s family in Reno and subsequently visited a place he called home for a large portion of his life – Lake Tahoe. Or as Briana called it, Lake Taco.
This is my second trip to Northern California but I can’t get enough of the beauty of the Lake, the scenery and the wilderness. I’m secretly jealous of Kurt for getting to live here for so many years.
We stopped at a quaint little town called Truckee for refreshments and souvenirs. The view from this point was spectacular.
Then we roamed the streets and local shops. Somehow on this trip Briana started collecting key chains and of course we had to get one in Truckee.
Next stop – Historic Fanny Bridge located over the only outlet of Lake Tahoe into the Truckee River. It’s believed the name came from all the fannies on the bridge looking down at the fish swimming in the dam. 🙂
Gorgeous, isn’t it?
I was a little bummed to see the clouds roll in over the Lake because they blocked the true blue color of the water.
Then again, the clouds might have added to complete serenity and beauty of this place.
The water is very clean and completely see through. I was surprised at how fast our feet got used to the cool temperature.
Lake Tahoe is the only place I have seen a bear crossing sign.
Before heading to Reno we drove up to the top of Mt. Rose to capture the full beauty of the magnificent lake.
Beautiful, peaceful and completely relaxing is the best way I can summarize Lake Tahoe.
Have a great day. 🙂
