Lights are dim.
Tables are beautifully set with white linen and I’m slowly sipping on a glass of wine.
The perfect night out on vacation.
That’s the way it was on our trip to Lake Tahoe. NOT!!!
That’s the way I wanted it to be but in reality it happened very differently. Don’t underestimate the power of a tired 5 year old, unorganized seating hostess and a loud party of 20 at the next table. I ate dinner with a sleepy child on my lap while the sweet waiter tried to scramble and figure out whether my hubby can have the “All you can eat sushi” at the table we were seated. At least the food was great.
We started the night with a dozen oysters on the half shell.
Although I wanted to have sushi a little voice inside my head talked me out of it. Honestly I think I actually heard my taste buds speaking to me. Instead I ordered Ahi Tuna with a well seasoned vegetable medley, potatoes gratin and fantastic chili miso dipping sauce. Glad I listened to the voice inside my head because this dish was spectacular.
Kurt and his best bud Mickey went a little crazy with the sushi order. They ordered way more than their stomachs could handle and I got stuck helping to clear the plate. I’m not complaining, although I felt like a stuffed turkey after all that food and suffered the rest of the night.
The next day we had plans to eat one of the greatest dishes I’ve ever had – Seafood Pan Roast, followed by a family get together at a Mexican Cantina later that night. Needless to say I skipped breakfast that morning. I wish this picture could describe how incredible this dish was, unfortunately is doesn’t do it justice.
To go along with the Pan Roast we ordered Tequila Oyster Shooters. Looks freaky, but so delicious. YUM!!!
That evening at the family get together I had my second Seafood & Lobster Enchilada. I happened to have it the first night when had dinner in Reno. Yes, it was smothered in cheese. Yes, it was the most unhealthiest dish I’ve had. I loved every single bite of it. I enjoyed it immensely. Oh, it’s so good to cheat. 🙂
This was a much needed vacation for us both.
Have a fantastic day. Love you all.
Oh and thanks to Jenn and her beautiful baby girl for hosting us once again.
